March 5th 2016.
Sinéad O’Connor and David Bowie’s famed former backup singer Ava Cherry visited Metro Chicago last night to pay tribute to the Thin White Duke. Appearing in part for a cancer benefit celebrating the survival of venue founder Joe Shanahan, the pair sang separately alongside the tribute band Sons of the Silent Age. Cherry came on first to sing “The Jean Genie,” “Young Americans,” and her own single, “That’s How Loneliness Goes.” O’Connor came out to perform “Life on Mars” and “Sorrow.”
